Description November 23, 1998 PULSE JCAHO Concludes Survey; Hospital Expects Full Accreditation University Hospitals & Clinics employees should be proud of their hard work in preparation for and during the recent visit by surveyors from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organiza-tions ( JCAHO), according to Christine St. Andre, UH executive director. Although JCAHO won't present its final report until late next month, the hospital is expected to receive a full three- year accredi-tation. " The surveyors' initial report reflects what we have known all along- that we have an excellent hospital," said St. Andre. " Our employees did an outstanding job. The surveyors were very complimentary about the staff they interviewed. They were also very impressed with the hospital's performance improvement efforts. " Although there were some areas identified that need improvement, they are things we can easily fix. I commend each of our employees for their dedication to this institution." Formed in 1951, JCAHO is an independent, not-for- profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of the nation's health care. It evaluates and accredits more than 18,000 health- care organizations and programs in the United States.
