Description Lumboperitoneal shunt (LPS) placement is an effective treatment for idiopathic intracranial hypertension. The operation can be complicated by post-operative headache due to intracranial hypotension. This problem is usually attributed to overshunting or valve failure. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage through a dural defect created by the shunt catheter may be an alternative mechanism.
