Note The attached photo shows the approximate recording location; Numerous bats were feeding over Pine Valley Reservoir, and these recorded echolocations were made within the human hearing range; Recorded on the far northeast side of the reservoir at the water's edge; Time was approximately 9:50 to 10:15 PM; Recording was made in full darkness; With the aid of a flashlight, numerous bats were observed skimming the surface of the reservoir during the recording; Several times during the recording, there was the sound of a small splash, which might indicate either a bat wing dipping into the water or a fish surfacing; Winds were light to moderate; Traffic was audible in the distance; Local Time: Approximately 9:50 to 10:15 PM
